To be a member of one of our plans:

  • You must live in our service area (coverage area),
  • be entitled to Medicare Part A,
  • be enrolled in Medicare Part A and if required, enrolled in Medicare Part B,
  • and not have End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), with limited exceptions, such as if you are already a member in one of our fully-insured plans.

If you currently pay a premium for Medicare Part A and/or Medicare Part B, you must continue paying your premium in order to keep your Medicare Part A and/or Medicare Part B and remain a member of this plan.

Our service area includes the following counties:

Ohio: Ashland, Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Hocking, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mahoning, Medina, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, Vinton, Washington, and Wayne;

PPO ONLY: Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Morrow, Pickaway;

West Virginia: Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Gilmer, Grant, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, McDowell, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Pendleton, Pleasants, Pocahontas, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel, Wirt, Wood, and Wyoming.

You will need to keep Medicare Part A and, if enrolled in Part B, you must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium, even if the plan premium is $0. The Health Plan's contract with CMS is renewed annually and the availability of coverage beyond the end of the current contract year is not guaranteed.

How do I enroll?

After completing the online application, you will receive a confirmation number. This number verifies that you have chosen to enroll and Medicare will notify The Health Plan of your enrollment.

Medicare beneficiaries may also enroll in SecureCare (HMO), WVU Medicine - The Health Plan SecureCare (HMO), SecureCare SNP (HMO D-SNP), SecureCare Capitol Plan (HMO), SecureChoice (PPO) or SecureChoice Capitol Plan (PPO) through the CMS Medicare Online Enrollment Center located at www.medicare.gov

Changing your method of premium payment: If you decide to switch to premium withhold or move from premium withhold to direct bill, it could take up to three months for it to take effect and you will be ultimately held responsible for those premiums.
